ABOUT THE PROJECT

Aïda Spaninks, DJ Lady Aïda, The Lady of Techno, Rebelbass, journalist, teacher and a beautiful human. Aïda was a true pioneer and involved in the music scene from 1985. A big influence and inspiration for many that followed. Always true to her own personal and whimsy taste and never afraid to experiment. As a journalist, writer, reporter she also wrote great blogs for VPRO's amazing 3VOOR12 platform under the name Rebelbass. In 2009 her 25 years anniversary of being a dj and producer gloomed at the horizon and she asked me to refresh the digital environment of rebelbass.com and mix it with some artwork and merch for an upcoming club tour to celebrate her anniversary. She could play everywhere, but handpicked several venues she had a special history with, special memories. I remember having great and sometimes weird chaotic phonecalls with her. So much energy and willpower to go, try, do stuff. Everything everything. In 2010 she started a dj school for kids to educate them. To pass on knowledge and love for the music. Something she dreamt of for years. A perfect fit. She never really grew up in that sense, she never stopped being that experimental, playful and curious kid who burst into the scene in 1985 and shaped it.
